These are the photographs of a bygone city and vanished culture. Images of Atlantis.
Atlanta during the 1970s was truly remarkable. It was a place and a time that we who lived though it will never forget. Paris had the 1890s, New York City had the 1940s and 50s, San Francisco had the 1960s. But none of these places had the spirit of Martin King coursing through their streets and their people. Creative thinking and synthesis was part of everyday routine.
If the life of Dr.King had any tangible meaning after the assassination, it was in his hometown during the decade following his death. The photos that will follow pay tribute to the Beloved Community we almost became.
